"More than a pony ride - a pony experience"

Welcome to Hobbit Horse Farm!

Located in northern Pender County we are happily fulfilling our mission to share the joy of our rescued miniature horses and ponies while educating families about equine ownership.

So what makes us different from outfits that offer pony rides?

Pony rides just give your child the opportunity to sit on a pony, often in a crowded public place. But at Hobbit Horse Farm, children get a chance to get to know their pony in its environment through a genuine, heartwarming hands-on experience.

Upon arrival at Hobbit Horse Farm, your child will be paired with one of our rescue ponies and taught the basics of grooming, feeding and hoof care as well as other aspects of pony husbandry. Our ponies are used to being handled and loved to be groomed; they even like having ribbons braided into their long, flowing manes!

Then comes the fun part; our ponies ride and drive, so after the grooming is done, your little one will have the option of being led around on a pony or taking a ride in our two-seater cart!

Games and take-home activities will provided to enhance the learning experience, and parents will have the option of viewing and purchasing photos taken of their child enjoying their magical pony experience.

Our goal is to promote the magic of ponies and to share the stories of our brave little equines, most of whom came to us from neglectful situations. We also seek to educate families who are considering purchasing a pony or miniature horse.

We do not breed or sell ponies at Hobbit Horse Farm, but we are in the process of starting a pony rescue program and eventually pairing rescued, rehabilitated ponies with families who can give them the love and care they deserve.

The modest fees we charge for our Pony Experiences go to offset the expense of adoption, care and feeding. Donations of equipment, feed and supplies are always welcome and appreciated.
